How Causeway can help with school and college improvement

Claire is School/College Improvement Lead at Causeway Education. Alongside her work at Causeway, she is an Assistant Headteacher and Head of Sixth Form at a comprehensive school in South London. She is passionate about ensuring that all young people are able to fulfil their potential and have the tools to progress to their next stage.

Facilitating evaluation

I am working directly with schools and colleges to help them audit their practice and identify areas of improvement. Using our framework for evaluation, I work together with staff to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses. In addition to this, I have put together a toolkit of quick(ish!) wins which can be used by staff to make improvements and tweaks to their current systems. So far, we’ve helped schools identify free, labour-saving tools and resources they could be using as well as high-quality opportunities their students could be accessing.

Examining ‘undermatch’ data

I am sharing ‘undermatch’ data with schools and colleges to help them identify gaps in support for the young people in their settings. Undermatch looks at students' attainment against their destinations and is a useful starting point for schools looking to improve their progression support, and to pin-point any groups of students who may need interventions.

Connecting schools and colleges to discuss and share best practice

I believe in the power of a strong network and a big part of my role is connecting staff to improve practice. Currently, I am looking to build a network of teachers to share best practice and opportunities for their staff and students.

If you would to discuss any of these points further, I would welcome the opportunity, please email me at: [email protected]
